Our wood strip canoes are not only fantastic functional objects but also creations of such beauty that they turn heads wherever they go.

They are made to a classic Canadian canoe design which makes them easy to turn, swift in a straight line and equally at home in lakes or rivers. There is ample space on board for passengers and camping equipment which makes for a great weekend away from the stress of modern living.

The reason they look so good is because they are built using the wood strip technique to create a seamless hull with beautiful flowing lines. This involves gluing many carefully moulded strips of timber together over a form and then covering with epoxy resin and fibreglass which seals and strengthens the hull and yet allows the beauty of the timber to shine through.

The hull is then given inwales and outwales to strengthen the edges and make it able to withstand any knocks and bumps. These could be just plain strips of wood but we take the time to cut out scuppers and taper their ends for a really graceful look.

Each canoe is unique as the decks at each end are made to different styles using different timbers so no two are alike.

The basic hull comes with two seats and a central thwart but can have many extras see our optional extras below.

Viewing
You are welcome to come and see our boats to discuss bespoke modifications and see them in the wood before making a purchase. If you are keen to buy one on the day do not forget your roof rack or trailer! - Please contact us to make an appointment.

Pricing
The basic model is priced at £1950.00. If you would prefer to have just a finished hull with gunwales and decks but no seats or carrying thwart this could be offered at a discount. It is perfectly possible to paddle whilst sitting on the base on a camping mat or cushion as an alternative to seats.

The Bespoke option can be from £1950.00 upwards and the modification could even be something as simple as a small inlay of a piece of timber from H.M.S victory added to the decks or a nameplate.

Lead time
It is our intention to keep one complete basic canoe ready for sale and make specials to order with a month or more lead time from payment of order to completion depending on the amount of extras.

Payment
Payment can be by bank transfer, cheque or by PayPal though we will have to wait for cheques to clear.

Collection and Delivery
Collection from our workshop is free. Delivery within 20 miles is £30.00, 20 to 50 miles £80.00 and over 50 miles is P.O.A. Collection by river (Nene) is also free!
